Art Dealers Association of Chicago

About the CADA

Mission Statement

The Chicago Art Dealers Association (CADA) is an arts organization comprised of the city's foremost dealers of the visual arts. Acknowledged by their peers, noteworthy dealers are invited to become members of the association in recognition of the quality of their programming and their integrity and responsibility in working with artists, collectors, museum professionals and the entire cultural community

The CADA Award

In recognition of the arts as a vital part of Chicago's cultural community, the association has established The CADA Award, an annual monetary award given to a Chicago educational or public program to be selected by the CADA membership.

The initial award from the CADA is $1000. We have already secured a matching grant from an anonymous donor for the first two years. Membership galleries will bring ideas to a general meeting at which the award recipient will be voted on by all members. Award money will be distributed in October 2010. We are very excited about this new initiative which will undoubtedly help a not for profit program or institution.

Gallery Services

Members of the Chicago Art Dealers Association (CADA) regularly share their knowledge and resources with the art community and the general public. Their exhibitions and collections range from antiques to the avant garde in all media: sculpture, painting, works on paper, photography, glass, textiles, video, film and installations. Included are works by emerging and mid-career artists as well as early 20th century, modern and contemporary masters.

In addition to exhibits and collections, CADA galleries also offer a broad range of services and activities:

Cooperation with museums, artists, collectors, educational institutions and individuals
Advice to members and others on matters concerning visual arts, high standards of fine art and related ethical business practices
Collection Management: advice and consultation to the public regarding acquisitions, installation, framing, lighting, transportation, storage and direction in how to begin, build or maintain a collection
Educational programs and speakers for programs related to individual CADA membersÂ’ expertise (ex. painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper, glass, outsider art, modern masters, contemporary art, etc.)
Promotion of Chicago as an international art center
